Abstract
From the Gamuza Formation (Riphean) of the Sierra de La Ciénega (Sonora), a columnar stromatolite is described and identified as Colonnella Komar, 1964. It may be part of Jacutophyton Shapovalova, 1968, and/or it may became expanded to produce a stromatolite similar to Platella Korolyuk (1963). lts laminations consist of alternating micrite and sparite. Sometimes they can be surrounded by calcareous mud. A hypothetical paleoecological reconstruction is proposed in which the relationship between two facies of the Gamuza Formation is considered. The structure of the Jacutophyton, described previously from the Pitiquito Hills, is explained as a result of the development of a bioherm related to small regressions and transgressions of different scale.
